Netflix October 2016 arrivals and departures

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

As October approaches, the usual comings and goings on Netflix are set to happen. Get prepared by binging what you want to watch before it’s gone, and add the newcomers once they’re up.

Coming highlights: Martin Lawrence comedy “Blue Streak” hits Netflix on Oct. 1, 2016. No word on whether it features the TNT in the bottom corner of the screen, because that was basically its home in the 90s. The underrated sci-fi flick “Sphere” starring Samuel L. Jackson, Sharon Stone, and Dustin Hoffman arrives on 10/1 as well, along with David O. Russell’s “Three Kings.” “iZombie” season two makes its way to Netflix, and if you haven’t been watching this hilarious CW series, you’re missing out on one of the best new shows.

An assortment of classics including “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “Patton,” “Once Upon a Time in the West,” and “Titanic,” all bolster the streaming lineup. Netflix loads up on original content in October as well, adding “The Ranch” season one, part two, “Mascots,” and “The Fall” season 3 among others.

Leaving bummers: “Back to the Future” parts I-III go back to the non-streaming (thankfully I still have the DVD by mail service), “Beverly Hills Cop II” comes down, and “The Warriors” will no more come out to play on streaming. Horror tour de force “The Exorcist” departs, and the underappreciated comedy “The Big Green” leaves as well.
