A new month, and a new batch of classic cinema hits the Triangle area of North Carolina. See what’s hitting theaters in Cup of Moe’s Triangle area classic cinema guide, February 2018 edition!

Durham’s Carolina Theatre hosts its Retro Film Series on Friday evenings. February 2018 kicks off with “Night of the Comet” and “Teen Witch” on Friday, Feb. 2 2018. Following on Feb. 9 is a fantastic Coen Brothers double feature of “The Big Lebowski” and “Fargo.” I’m excited to announce that Cup of Moe is sponsoring “The Big Lebowski,” one of my all-time favorite films. Then, on Feb. 16, a comedic double header of “Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein” pairs with “Carl Reiner’s The Man With Two Brains.” In a special Sunday Retro Film Series entry, hit up the rescheduled “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” with “Christine” in historic Fletcher Hall.
Closing out the month, Nevermore Film Festival which celebrates sci-fi, dark fantasy, horror, suspense, mystery, and action-thrillers returns to Carolina Theatre for its 19th run. The 19th annual Nevermore Film Fest spans Feb. 23-25 2018. Stay tuned for the lineup!

Meanwhile, in Raleigh, Ambassador Cinemas hosts its own series. As per usual “Rocky Horror Picture Show” plays on the first and third Fridays of the month. While sports, not a film, the Rialto Theatre will screen the “Big Game” on Sunday, Feb. 4. For its Monday at the Movies series, catch “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” on Feb. 19.
Flashback Cinema showcases a bevy of classic cinema each month. February 2018 sees “Gigi” on the big screen Feb. 4 and 7. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, watch “Casablanca” play again on Feb. 11 and 14. Endearing, timeless flick “The Wizard of Oz” hits the box office on Feb. 18 and 21. Finally, John Wayne treasure “True Grit” airs on Feb. 25 and 28. You can catch Flashback Cinema screenings at Chapel Hill at Silverspot as well as Park West 14 in Morrisville, and Wakefield 12 in Raleigh.
Make it a movie night at the museum with the North Carolina Museum of Art’s Winter Film series. The NCMA hosts film nights on Friday evenings. February 2018 starts with “Bombshell” on Feb. 2, followed by “Stand-in” on Feb. 9. Eddie Murphy gem “Bowfinger” follows on Feb. 16, with “Columbus” on Feb. 23.
Fathom Events hosts classic movies as well in select theatres. watch “The Philadelphia Story” on Feb. 18 and 21, followed by “The Dark Crystal” on Feb. 25 and 28.
