The Rosemary’s Baby 1968 soundtrack composed by Krzysztof Komeda is an absolute masterpiece (our review). With its mix of avant-garde jazzy numbers, haunting lullabies, and coven chants, it’s a musical tour de force. But how does the Waxwork Records deluxe repress match up? Find out…

Waxwork Records delivers a fantastic package in Rosemary’s Baby 1968 vinyl release. The film score differs from past iterations since the audio is re-mastered from the original master tapes. As such, this Waxwork Records vinyl presents the definitive film soundtrack.

Packaging is gorgeous. Jay Shaw handles the artwork which features Rosemary (Mia Farrow) and her husband Guy (John Cassavetes) with the iconic hotel the Bramford (really the Dakota in New York City), and a pram. Inside the gatefold jacket, you’ll find liner notes and images from the film. Additionally, Waxwork throws in an 11″ x 11″ insert with Shaw’s cover art.

On the technical side, the LP is cut to 45 RPM for top-tier audio quality. It’s a 180 gram record. Moreover, the record is a translucent “ritual smoke” design that’s grey with black swirls. The center track list even embodies a retro vibe. Overall, the Waxworks Rosemary’s Baby 1968 re-mastered vinyl re-press is a must-own for any fan of the Roman Polanski classic. The music is phenomenal, and Waxwork Record spares no expense with the packaging. My only (very minor) quibble: there’s no breakdown of track length. For those of us who like to rip out vinyl, it’s a really useful inclusions. Nevertheless, I can’t recommend this release enough.
