The Tribit XSound Go is a small Bluetooth speaker that truly packs a punch. Onboard, you’ll find dual 6W power drivers and a passive bass radiator. An IPX7 waterproof-rated speaker, the Tribit XSound Go is a solid Bluetooth speaker with waterproofing. A long-lasting battery provides up to 24 hours of continuous use.

On the front, there’s a metal speaker grille, and the housing features a smooth matte finish. Construction feels as though you can toss the Tribix XSound Go in a backpack without having to worry about its safety. In addition to its Bluetooth connectivity, with an impressive 66-foot range, you’ll find a 3.5mm AUX input alongside a micro USB port for charging. On the top of the device, the XSound Go boasts physical play/pause, power, Bluetooth, and volume up/down buttons.

Tribit XSound Go Review: The Best Portable Bluetooth Speaker Under $50

I’ve got no shortage of speakers lying about, both Bluetooth and otherwise. Hooked up to my computer, I’ve got a Logitech Z623 THX-certified 2.1 speaker system.  My turntable features a pair of floor-standing Infinity cabinets, and my 5.1 surround sound includes Infinity Alpha 20 monitors. On the portable side, I’ve got an Anker Soundcore and a Sound Box Splash speaker flashlight combo. The Tribit XSound Go easily bests the competition.

I tested the Tribit XSound Go by playing a variety of genres to assess its capabilities to churn out different styles of tunes. Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” pumped with a pleasantly surprising bass response. Thankfully, though this portable Bluetooth speaker’s bass outstrips pretty much any speaker in its class, the soundscape proved balanced. Lamar’s vocals aren’t drowned out, unlike on other speakers (I’m looking at you Beats by Dre).

“Friend of the Devil” by the Grateful Dead emanated with a crisp quality, twanging guitars, crooning vocals, and plucked bass notes equally evident. “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer,” rang superb bass. Overall, the Tribit XSound Go’s performance is full of punchy mids, robust yet not overpowering bass, and shocking loudness. The Tribit XSound Go somehow fills up a medium-sized room with little to no distortion, even at max volume.

I appreciated the physical buttons on top, as well as AUX input for a hardwired connection. Battery life provided several days of sporadic use before requiring a charge. The flap covering the micro USB charging port and 3.5mm input proved a tad difficult to unfasten, though this helps the XSound Go maintain its IPX7 waterproof rating. Design isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s aesthetically pleasing, and pretty much the industry standard.

At this price point and size, the Tribit XSound Go completely obliterates the competition. Generally, opting for a budget Bluetooth speaker means making some sacrifices. However, the Tribit XSound Go bucks that trend. A speaker this small and affordable has no business sounding as good as it does. The Anker Soundcore slides in at a similar size and price point, but I found its audio profile a bit tinny, and noticed some clipping at full volume. The Oontz Angle provides crisp audio but disappointing bass. Ultimately, the Tribit XSound Go completely trounces the competition.

The Tribit XSound Go has no business sounding as good as it does. It’s a premium speaker with a budget price tag that punches well above its weight class. You might consider the UE Wonderboom, though the Wonderboom steps up the cost. The Anker Soundcore Boost is an alternative, but at a hefty markup compared with the XSound Go. Easily the best portable Bluetooth speaker under $50, the Tribit XSound Go is the top budget Bluetooth speaker on the market.
