Moogfest 2018 hits Durham, NC May 17-20. While many Moogfest shows and panels require tickets (available here including day passes), certain events are free and open to the public. In partnership with the city of Durham and Durham county, Moogfest 2018 presents its Legends on the Lawn series. Featuring performances by legendary DJs and producers including Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Pete Rock, and NC’s own AYO VIP and Gudiya, it’s a must-catch for both Moogfest attendees and Durham locals.
Legends on the Lawn at Moogfest 2018

Hosted on the lawn at American Tobacco Campus (ATC), the Moogfest 2018 Legends on the Lawn series kicks off with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, producer, DJ, and rapper of A Tribe Called Quest acclaim. Following Muhammad, stay tuned for a DJ set from renowned producer and DJ Pete Rock who rose to popularity as one half of the much lauded hip hop group Pete Rock & CL Smooth.
North Carolina’s own AYO VIP and Gudiya are slated to perform DJ sets later in the afternoon. In between AYO VIP and Gudiya, indie-soul artist Moses Sumney graces the stage (lawn), returning to Moogfest for the second time. Then, Modular on the Spot picnic transforms Legends on the Lawn into a family-friendly party. Guest MC Lord Fess is slated to put in an appearance at the free Moogfest 2018 event.
At Moogfest 2017, producer and DJ heavyweight Peanut Butter Wolf of Stones Throw Records distinction, played a set on the ATC lawn. Amidst the incredible 2017 Moogfest lineup, Peanut Butter Wolf’s DJ set was easily one of my favorite acts. As a huge A Tribe Called Quest fan and Pete Rock fan, I’m pretty jazzed for Legends on the Lawn.
