Moogfest 2018 hits Durham, NC from May 17-20 2018. While many acts were announced, the full Moogfest 2018 lineup has been released. Like past years of the music festival, it’s a variety of performers defined by diversity.

Moogfest 2018 lineup revealed

For Moogfest 2018, the musical talent is ripe with talent. Hip hop legend KRS-One boats an impressive catalog of more than 20 albums. He’s been lauded as “the greatest live emcee ever” by hip hop magazine The Source. Outside of music, KRS-One is a seasoned lecturer, published author, and influential founder of both gangsta rap and conscious rap.

Kelela is a critically-acclaimed R&B artist with a futuristic flair. I had the pleasure of seeing Kelela perform at Hopscotch 2016 in Raleigh, NC and her show was one of the top shows I saw. With her silky smooth vocals over inventive, often retrofuturist instrumentals, Kelela is an up-and-coming artist poised to provide a can’t-miss set at Moogfest 2018. If you’ve yet to snag a copy, her LP Hallucinogen is a must-cop, as is Take Me Apart.

Ishmael Butler of Digable Planets acclaim and percussionist Tendai Maraire from Cherrywine teamed up for this gem of a collaboration. With an electronic, jazzy vibes and ethereal, abstract lyrics, Shabazz Palaces are certain to thrill. Their album Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star is worthy of any music collection.

Five-time Grammy-nominated composer and electronic music trailblazer Suzanne Ciani ranks among the Moogfest 2018 lineup artists that I’m most excited for. Her set should be ripe with a synth, equally as entertaining to hear as well as see.
